Hydrangea paniculata are hardy, deciduous shrubs, known for the sheer size and ''show'' power of their flowers. Originating in Japan, China and Taiwan, various breeding programmes have produced improved varieties. Hydrangea paniculata Pink Diamond is an excellent plant for lightly shaded locations and has been granted the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Abundant strong stems of large, conical flower heads open in creamy white and slowly transform to rich pink as each bloom matures. Different shades of white and pink flower heads appear on the plant at the same time. Its long flowering period and multiple colour transitions make this a rather special plant. Easy to grow in semi shade in most moist, fertile soils. Does not grow well in chalky soils. Hydrangea paniculata Pink Diamond can be grown in the garden or in a pot or container. In containers use a good quality compost. Ensure you feed regularly as a hungry plant is a poor performer. We recommend Osmoscote pro 8-9 month applied in late spring. One application gives all the nutrients the plant requires for the whole year. Prune after flowering, close to the old wood.
